CAREER-BREAK IN QUITO
Anyone planning a career break in Ecuador could find Quito is the ideal destination for them.
The World Heritage Site – the first city ever to be awarded that status by UNESCO – is currently gearing up for Christmas.
Among its attractions for the season are the Virgin Mary, a permanent erection in front of which stand 20 Nativity scenes illuminated with 6,000 individual points of light.
There are more than 130 historical sights in Quito, with the colonial centre of the old town and over 80 monasteries and churches.
In all, the city's tourism authority suggests it is a "must-do trip" for anyone enjoying a winter break in Latin America.
As such, those heading away on a career break in Ecuador in the coming weeks might want to add Quito to their itinerary as a last-minute alteration.
The Quito Visitors' Bureau says its aim is to generate unique and memorable experiences – and that visitors to its website and its city are given a warm welcome.
