ECUADOR WANT INDIAN TRAVEL
In a bid to promote tourism to the country, the Embassy of Ecuador in India is planning to bring an Ecuadorian mission of travel agents to India in February 2011. “We hope to make it a two city event – Delhi and Mumbai,” informed Carlos Abad, ambassador of Ecuador.
The country’s embassy was set up in India four years ago and every year they have seen a growing interest in the nation’s tourism opportunities. Abad added that with visa on arrival for Indians in Ecuador, it is a great destination for Indians.
“We are aiming at attracting one million tourists to Ecuador by the end of 2010,” Abad added. He also said that Ecuador is known for its biodiversity with the Amazon, the Andes, the coastal region and the Galapagos Islands, it is a unique destination that piques everyone’s curiosity. Being a long haul destination, the average travel time from India will be more than 30 hours. Currently, the most convenient way to get to Ecuador from India is to fly by KLM via Amsterdam, said Abad. He further added that there are routes via USA, South Africa as well as Dubai. Abad was speaking at the sidelines of the opening of the Ecuadorian food promotion organised at the ITC Grand Central, Mumbai in collaboration with the Embassy of Ecuador to India.
