CHINA INVESTS IN ECUADOR
China's largest oil company and its major commercial bank have shown great interest in joining a refinery project of Ecuador-Venezuela which is planned for Ecuador's Pacific coast, claimed a senior minister from the Andean country on Friday.
China National Petroleum Corporation which is the country's top oil producer and Industrial & Commercial Bank of China Ltd, its largest commercial bank by assets, will organize follow-up talks in Quito in the coming month of June on joining the venture.
ECUADOR HAS A NEW BEAUTY
Karen Vaca is a beauty queen with a heart of gold. A Trinity Catholic senior said that her friends were surprised when they found out she won a beauty pageant.
A cheerleader at Trinity she held that her victory as The Queen of Riobamba in Queens New York last year, had nothing to do with pride. The drive was to help humanity as a whole.
Vaca born in Ecuador, and moved to Stamford later, used her title to serve her homeland. She spent 18 days working with underprivileged children last December in Ecuador.
CHAVEZ TO VISIT ECUADOR
The Venezuelan Chavez is all set to visit Ecuador amongst many other countries. Chavez said he has been resting since May 9, when his injury forced him to postpone trips to the three Latin American countries.
For the past three weeks Chavez's presence has been limited to sending commentary on Venezuelan an international affairs via his Twitter microblogging account.
The sole exception was his appearance on the 12 year anniversary show of his television talk program "Alo, Presidente." He appeared for a mere hour, when he normally spends six hours on average on the show.
NEW AIRPORT IN QUITO
Apparently plans for a new airport in Quito are set to change travel in South America for the better. Currently commercial travel to the Ecuadorian capital is hampered by conditions at Tababela airport. Here planes have problems with the high altitudes and the very short runways.
The new airport, however, well address these concerns. It will also address the concern of limited capacity. Apparently it will have the ability to receive more than four million passengers annually. It will also have a loading capacity of 270,000.

ECUADOR WANT INDIAN TRAVEL
In a bid to promote tourism to the country, the Embassy of Ecuador in India is planning to bring an Ecuadorian mission of travel agents to India in February 2011. “We hope to make it a two city event – Delhi and Mumbai,” informed Carlos Abad, ambassador of Ecuador.
The country’s embassy was set up in India four years ago and every year they have seen a growing interest in the nation’s tourism opportunities. Abad added that with visa on arrival for Indians in Ecuador, it is a great destination for Indians.
SOUTH AMERICA HAS IT ALL
The popularity of South America as a tourist destination could be set to explode as adventure travel becomes even more common in 2011.
This is the opinion of newly-formed Patagonian tourism specialist Swoop Travel, which explained that Brits are now seeking excitement that takes them away from their humdrum lives in the UK and off to exciting foreign lands.
Travel insurance customers seeking such destinations could head to South America, with Ecuador, Chile, Argentina and Brazil all likely to be popular destinations in 2011.
CAREER-BREAK IN QUITO
Anyone planning a career break in Ecuador could find Quito is the ideal destination for them.
The World Heritage Site – the first city ever to be awarded that status by UNESCO – is currently gearing up for Christmas.
Among its attractions for the season are the Virgin Mary, a permanent erection in front of which stand 20 Nativity scenes illuminated with 6,000 individual points of light.
There are more than 130 historical sights in Quito, with the colonial centre of the old town and over 80 monasteries and churches.
